Duane Jacobson Fargo, North Dakota Duane Jacobson, age 71, of Fargo, passed away on January 5, 2005, at his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Duane was born on November 3, 1933, in Fargo, the son of Reuben and Christine (Amstrup) Jacobson. Duane was baptized and confirmed at the Walcott Lutheran Church. He grew up in the Walcott, ND, area on the family farm, attended and graduated from Walcott High School in 1951. After his schooling he first worked for area farmers and later for Kindred Plumbing and Heating. Duane proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 until his discharge in 1955. He returned to North Dakota and continued working for Kindred Plumbing and Heating. Duane was united in marriage to Gail Hagglund on March 2, 1958, in Alvarado, MN. They made their home in Kindred until 1961. Together they moved to Alvarado, MN, where Duane owned and operated his own plumbing and heating business until 1989. Duane and Gail moved to Fargo in 1989 and he began working for Nicholson Plumbing, later for Laney=s, and most recently for Home Plumbing and Heating. Duane continued working until last October until his health prevented him. Duane was a member of the Alvarado American Legion, the New Hope Church in Alvarado, and Messiah Lutheran Church in Fargo, and organized the formation of the Alvarado Lions Club. Duane is survived by his wife Gail of Fargo; his daughter, JoAnn Jurgens of Eagan, MN; his son, Jeffrey (Carrie) Jacobson of Albertville, MN; his grandchildren, Joshua Jurgens, Grace Jacobson and Gillian Jacobson; his mother, Christine Jacobson of West Fargo, ND; and his brothers and sisters, Rev. Reuben Jacobson of West Fargo; Mary (Alfred) Lieseth of Granbury, TX; Janice Peterson of Portland, OR; Judy (Peter) Larson of Abercrombie, ND; Shirley (Layton) Johnson of West Fargo; Charles (Sandi) Jacobson of Castle Rock, CO; and Sharon (Patrick) Connley of Garden City, NY. Duane is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, and his brother, Ronald.
