Duane Overbeck

Duane L. Overbeck, 61, Fargo, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2008 at home in the care of his family and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Duane was born in Grand Forks on July 12, 1947. He grew up in McHenry and New Rockford, ND and graduated from New Rockford High School in 1965. Duane then attended NDSU from which he graduated in 1969. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971. He was stationed in Korea and upon his honorable discharge returned to North Dakota where he lived in the Bismarck area. Duane L. Overbeck and Theresa L. Obowa were married on August 10, 1974 in Fergus Falls, MN. They came to Fargo where they have lived since. Duane worked as Purchasing Manager for the last 23 years at Western Products. He loved being together with family and friends, often times enjoying spur of the moment activities and doing things on a whim. Lunch with the guys at the shop and playing dice was a highlight of his day. He also loved playing cards and going on cruises. He fulfilled his ?Bucket List? some of which included a hot air balloon ride, watching his son conduct the orchestra, and riding in a friend?s convertible. Duane is survived by his wife, Theresa, children Jeremy (Alicia) Overbeck, and Jessica (Ryan) Bergeron, grandchildren Joseph and Emma Overbeck and Joshua Bergeron, and a sister, Elaine (Terry) Pfaff. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo D. and June L. (Hastings) Overbeck. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to: The Roger Maris Cancer Center; Gift of Life Transplant House, Rochester, MN; and Hospice of the Red River Valley. The Celebration of Life for Duane will be at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 in the Chapel at Boulger Funeral Home. In keeping with Duane?s request, there will be a party to celebrate his life. It will be held at Trollwood Park in North Fargo. Please join the party!
