Edi’s service will be livestreamed starting at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 14, 2024
With a heavy heart, we had to say good-bye to the matriarch of the McCloskey family.
Edeltrud “Edie” McCloskey, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on December 6, 2024, at the age of 87 surrounded by family.
Edeltrud Mccloskey was born in Koblenz, Germany. It’s also where she had met her husband, David Sr and moved to the USA over 60yrs ago where they eventually settled in Detroit Lakes, MN. Then later moving to Moorhead, MN. Edie’s life was marked by her vibrant spirit and her devotion to her loved ones. She enjoyed working at a bakery early in her career, but her true fulfillment came from raising her sons, Tom, David and Robert. As a social butterfly, Edie embraced life with an infectious enthusiasm. She adored spending time with friends, sharing laughter over lunch, engaging in spirited card games, or dancing the night away at the VFW. Sundays were a special highlight for Edie, where she cherished lunches with David and his wife, Alisha, and treasured beloved cuddles with her grand-pups, Brewtus and Ashley.
Edie is survived by her sons, Dave (Alisha) and Tom; grandchildren Cassie, Stephanie (Jason), Lindsey (Lance), Michelle (Anthony), Lexi, Kelsie, Brian (Jenny); many great grandchildren; family in Germany, cousin, Norbert (partner, Dorota) and niece, Edeltrut; and her grand-pups.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Sr; parents, Josephine and Johann; son, Robert; sisters, Animee, Gertie and Inga; and grandchildren, Tyler and Noah.
