Edward Sauvageau 95, Fargo, ND passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Sanford Palliative Care surrounded by his family. Edward Marcel Sauvageau was born on May 14, 1920 in Fargo (St. John’s Hospital) to Gideon and Cecelia (Trottier) Sauvageau. Ed grew up between Hickson and Horace on his father’s farm. He attended the Montplaisir School and then St. Joseph’s/St. Benedict Academy at Horace, ND. Ed worked for his uncle, Adrian Sauvageau on the farm ($15.00 a month @11hours/day). Edward Sauvageau and Angela Rheault were married on June 5, 1941 at ST. Benedict Church, Horace, ND. Ed began work at the Fargo Foundry and then worked at the Olsen Casket Company/Fm Casket for 27 years until 1969 when he went to work for Cass Clay Creamery. Ed retired in 1981 after 12 ½ years with Cass Clay. Ed was a member of the Knights of Columbus and belonged to St. Anthony’s and then St. Mary’s. Ed always enjoyed working in his garden and was known as, “The Tomato King” Ed is survived by his wife, Angela; children, Gerald (Peggy), Glenrock, Wyo., Richard (Jeanne) Blaine, MN, Daniel, Moorhead, MN, Sandra (Kurt) Smith, Bloomington, MN, Karen (Joseph) Amundson, Fargo, Michael (Betty), Fargo, Dean (Sandi), Fargo, Renee McPherson, Fargo, and Tona Sauvageau, Fargo; 23 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; brother, David, Mesa, AZ; Sister, Catherine Grandbois, West Fargo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gideon and Cecilia Sauvageau, 4 brothers and 4 sisters, son, Thomas and daughter, Beverly Hanson.

    I know all of you will miss Ed but from what I hear about him, he lived a very good/long life.
    But I know it still hurts very much to loose a loved one.
    Hold on tight to the many special memories that he leaves with you. Such a very nice photo of him.

Though we never had the privilege of spending much time with him, we know that he was a special man, loved by his family and all those who came to know him. He set a fine example for our brother-in-law, Richard, who is loved and admired by our entire family. If the days ahead are difficult, remember you will hold him in your heart; you will find solace in your family and your faith, and you can move forward knowing you have been blessed.
