Edwin O. Olson died August 24, 2022 at the Veterans Affair Hospital in Fargo under the care of hospice for two days.

He was 97 years old. Eddy was born May 19, 1925 in Maywood, Illinois to Mabel (Nordstrom) Olson and Peter Olson. Ed and his family moved from the Chicago area to Bismarck, ND when he was 15. He joined the Marine Corps in 1943, became a corporal, and served in the Pacific. After the service, he married his high school sweetheart Margaret Stumpf, on June 25,1946. They had two daughters by the time he graduated from the University of North Dakota with a B.S in commerce on May 31, 1950. In 1957, Ed started A-1 Olson Typewriter Company. Ed and Marge owned the business in downtown Fargo for over 30 years. Then Ed became a real estate appraiser and worked for the next ten years until retirement.

Ed and Marge enjoyed their Tamarac Lake home near Pelican Rapids during summers with friends and family after their adult children were raised.

Ed loved traveling and writing. One book he wrote with Marge is called “Travels With Margie” about their wonderful adventures over 40 years of world travel. Some of the places they traveled were Africa, Russia, Europe, South America, and China.

They were members of Blessed Sacrament Church in West Fargo. In November of 2021, they moved to Farmstead Living. After 75 years of marriage, Marge died on December 5, 2021. Ed was a dedicated husband and father! He had many nieces and nephews.

Ed was predeceased by his parents, wife, and siblings. His siblings were Oma Westerlund (Andy), Evelyn Lundberg (Robert), and Lowell Olson (Audrey).

Survivors of his immediate family include daughters: Debera Olson Frey (Jeff) and Pamela Olson James (Steven), grandchildren: Krystal Frey, Nick Frey, Sean Kennedy (Valerie Green), Erik Haines, and great grandson Weston Green-Kennedy.

Gratitude for the care along the way from the Veterans Hospital, Sanford (home health and hospice) and Farmstead Living. There will be no service but arrangements have been made by Boulgers.
