Elaine Majerus, 96, peacefully passed away on March 23, 2024, surrounded by family at Edgewood Vista, Fargo, ND. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend who will be missed deeply by all who knew her.

Elaine Margaret (Wegler) Majerus was born April 8, 1927, to Edward and Margaret (Richter) Wegler in St. Cloud, MN. She graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School in 1946. Elaine worked at Penny’s department store in St. Cloud most of her high school years and helped her father in his restaurant when needed. After graduation, she started working at Northwestern Bell Telephone in Minneapolis, MN. She was united in marriage to Ralph Majerus in Minneapolis, MN on April 14, 1947. After a short time living in St. Cloud, they moved to Grand Forks, ND in 1948 where Ralph started his career at Great Northern Railroad and Elaine was able to continue her employment with Northwestern Bell Telephone. Together they raised five children in Grand Forks, ND. In 1971, Elaine and Ralph moved to Fargo, ND where both were able to transfer their employment. Elaine retired in 1987 and worked part time at the Fargo Dome with Event Services for five years.

Her summers were spent at Frank’s Lodge on Star Lake, MN, and spent several winters in Mesa, AZ. Elaine belonged to Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters. Elaine was also a member of CWA union, Telephone Pioneers, VFW Auxiliary and DAV Auxiliary. Elaine was a witty lady and jokester who loved to play little tricks on her friends and relatives for a good laugh.

Elaine is survived by her children, Linda Molitor, Steven (Julie), Richard (Faye), Cynthia (Kevin) Metcalf; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; daughter, Sandra; brother, Don; sisters, Jeanette, Delores; son in law, Jerome; and two infant grandchildren.

Memorials are preferred to be sent in care of Elaine Majerus to Hospice of the Red River Valley, Fargo and/or any other charitable organization of your choice.

  8. My deepest sympathies! I remember pulling up to my mom’s for a visit. Getting out of the car and hearing al kinds of giggles coming from the patio…. sure enough. Mom and Elaine! God speed and blessed be Elaine’s memory!!
