Eldon J. Olson, 73, of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025.

Eldon was born on March 21, 1951, in Crosby, ND, to Arvid and Elveida Olson. Eldon pursued his education at Wahpeton College of Science, where he began shaping his future. It was during a semester break that he met the love of his life, Bonnie, through a mutual connection with his friend Miles. Eldon and Bonnie were married on December 15, 1973, and they welcomed their son, Christopher, into the world in 1979 and daughter, Jennifer, in 1988. Eldon’s faith and family were the cornerstones of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with loved ones.

Following his educational pursuits, Eldon worked as a mechanic at Montgomery Ward for several years before dedicating the next 33 years to farming during the summer months. His passion for agriculture extended into his winter work at Agassiz Seed in West Fargo, where he spent over 20 years. Eldon’s love for the land and the animals he raised was evident in all he did, reflecting his unwavering commitment to the agricultural community.

Eldon took great pleasure in fishing, hunting, and recreational shooting, often engaging in spirited conversations about politics with Chris and anyone who would listen. His adventurous side led him to delightful trips to Florida, Colorado, the Bahamas, Texas, Cancun, even to Paris, France, and on multiple Carnival Cruises throughout the Caribbean, where he created unforgettable memories.

Eldon leaves behind a wealth of cherished memories for all who had the privilege of knowing him. His absence will be deeply felt in the hearts of family and friends alike.

Eldon is survived by his children, Chris Olson and Jenny (Randy) Buhr, 6 grandchildren, Max, Marcie, Howie, Maggie, Harvey, and Hazel; significant other, Kirsten Mohr; his sister, Ardyce Bragg; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Eldon was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bonnie; and his parents, Arvid and Elveida Olson; brother-in-law, Orville Bragg; and nephew, Brady Iverson.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. We are very sad to hear about cousin Eldon. Our hearts go out to you all. My memories of Eldon is seeing him always smiling, kind, caring and just a lovely human being!

I recall him helping me with my car when I was in college in Fargo (no internet then) . I always appreciated that. So calm, knowledgeable and refused to accept a gift. Hugs to Bonnie, Chris, & Jennifer & families. Wish we lived closer. ❤️

  2. To Chris and the family, our deepest condolences – he will always be a part of you and your life. Let us know if you need anything.

  3. The Olsons were neighbors to my grandparents, Elmer and Irene Long. My brother Veral and I spent time with Eldon as kids. The boys hunted birds with BB guns, etc., and I was the tag-along girl. Sometimes, my sister Janelle was there, and then she and I would visit Ardis. I ran into Eldon quite a few years ago and had a short visit and then have not seen him since. The whole family was SO nice and good to my grandparents and Uncle Alden. Janelle just passed in September at age 80. My condolences to you all. It looks like he had a very good life and is well loved by many.

  4. So sorry to hear of your loss, Chris and Jenny, but you know your dad’s memories are gonna be with you forever. Sending hugs to you all.

  5. continued…Jennifer and Chris please reach out so we can stay in contact. Bonnie had stopped sending Christmas cards, which I loved, but life got busy and so did I, so I just assumed she stopped sending them. I had no idea that your lovely mother had passed on to heaven! Please accept our sincerest sympathies. It’s devastating to lose a parent, and you’re both very young yet. The last time I saw you both was when we traveled through Fargo to TIoga, ND and neither of you were married yet. My heart hurts for you both.

We lost mother, your great aunt Mildred Hermanson this December as well. (Eldon’s aunt via Elveida’s brother Gunny). I keep telling myself that she got to go “HOME” for Christmas and Jesus is the Reason, so be happy for her. I hope that through your grief you will think of that too for Eldon. Hugs.
    Brenda

  6. Eldon was my classmate in Wildrose, ND class of 1969. He was a great guy and fun to be with. He and I would see each other when he was back in the area farming. Rest in Peace good fellow. Enjoyed knowing you.
