Eli Clifford Purdy, 86, passed away December 16, 2024 at Sanford Health Hospital, Fargo.

Eli was born in Osakis, MN and went to school in Alexandria, MN. He moved to Fargo and worked at Northport Hornbachers Bakery for 62 years. His specialties being rosettes and hard candy at Christmas time. He was a Member of the Messiah Lutheran church for 50 years. Eli was an avid year-round fisherman and hunter. His successes lined the walls in his mancave. He was always willing and ready to take kids, family, and friends along. He enjoyed bowling for many years, as well as gardening and yardwork. He loved playing cards, dice, and going with friends to the casino.

He was very proud of his family and loved them all very much.

Eli and Diane were married for 51 years.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; daughters, Stephanie (Ross) Huebner, Stacy (Mark) Hamilton, and Julie (Jesse) Rorvik; grandchildren, Josie Huebner, Mason Huebner, Lauren Hamilton, Logan Hamilton, Matt (Joann) Purdy, Kale (Miranda) Rorvik ; great granddaughters; sister, Elaine Jensen; sister-in-law, Dar Waldron; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents; son, Jon Purdy; brothers, Larry Purdy and Bill Waldron; and brother-in-law, Harold Jensen.

In memory of Eli, memorials can be made to Messiah Lutheran Hour of Worship.

We sure got to enjoy the taste of cookies and candies at Christmas time from Eli’s hard work that was passed down to Stacy and Lauren learning first hand of Eli’s bakery. Sooooooo Delicious !!!!!   5. I worked with Eli for many years at Northport, he was very skilled at his baking craft. I was always amazed at how wonderful his baked goods were. He taught many people how to bake, and how to make his Christmas peanut brittle and peko flake candies! He always was a kind man to me and I enjoyed knowing him. So sorry for your loss.

  6. So many great memories … Superbowl games, trips to Valley Fair, winter weekend get-a-aways, and of course the many New Years Eves our families spent together. I always cherish these times, and I will miss Eli’s laugh & sense of humor … & hugs. God Bless !!

  9. I was lucky to have worked with Eli since 1973. There are SO many great memories of all those years.!! We worked hard and we laughed hard. My sincere sympathies to Diane and the family. May all your happy memories help carry you through this sad time and forever.
