Ellen Sherman

Ellen (Zdeb) Sherman, 87, Moorhead, MN, went to God under the care of her loving family on Tuesday, September 13. Ellen Zdeb was born in Valley City, ND, to Joseph and Elna (Carlson) Zdeb on January 18, 1929. She grew up in the rural Valley City area and attended several different schools including Grand Prairie where she played on the girl’s basketball team. She married George Sherman on February 27, 1946. They moved to Moorhead in 1948. Although she held several positions in the hospitality industry, her life was centered on her family; she was active in her church, St. Francis de Sales, and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening and playing Bingo. Ellen is survived by her seven daughters: Judy (Mike) Brodigan, Grapevine, TX, Patricia (Jack) Kuehn, Fort Worth, TX, Pamela (James Norfleet) Elf, Mentor, MN, Joan (Bob Fuller) Rawson, Grapevine, TX, Sharon (Rodney) Rydie, Burleson, TX, Mary (Mike) Landis, Surprise, AZ, Julie (Steven) Pasche, Moorhead, MN; her four sons, Erwin Sherman, Golden, CO, Randy Sherman, Fargo, ND, Scott Sherman, Buffalo, NY, Richard (Kim Swistok) Sherman, Orange, CA; 23 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, both her parents, and five brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead.
