Sister M. Eugenia Tessier, age 86, died Saturday, May 16, 2015. Mary Ruth Teresa was born to Eugene and Rose Tessier on April 17, 1929 in Cass County. She grew up in the Fargo area. Following graduation from Sacred Heart Academy, she became a member of the Presentation Sisters and made profession of vows in the order of 1950. A graduate of the College of St. Benedict, she also studied at the College of Mt. St. Joseph. For 28 years, Sister Eugenia taught primary grades in several parochial schools – St. Anthony’s, St. Mary’s, Holy Spirit, Nativity (all in Fargo), St. Alphonsus (Langdon) and St. James (New Rockford). She was a child care worker at St. John’s Orphanage in Fargo and St. Vincent’s Home in Louisville, KY for total of 11 years. For many years she was director of religious education in parishes in North Dakota and in Minnesota. Generous with her time, she received awards for her volunteer service with ARC and Stephen Ministries. She served on the governing boards of Presentation Partners in Housing and Villa Nazareth. For the past many years, she was the person who greeted those who came through the doors of the Presentation Center. Sister is survived by members of her religious community; her sister, Joann (Jasper) Tumbarello, her brother, Gene (Carol), brother-in-law, Dan and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Rose and brothers Daniel, Leonard, and Norman. Visitation will on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 6-7:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Convent, Fargo followed by a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 A.M. at Riverview Place Chapel, Fargo with visitation starting at 10:00 A.M. Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery North, Fargo.

  3. Sr. Eugenia was a wonderful, bright star at the front desk of the Presentation Center. She was on the Partners in Housing board for years and always offered a different perspective on the situation. She had a great sense of humor and a no nonsense style about her but you always know she cared. I will miss her.
