Eunice Leppert

Leppert, Eunice, age 97, was born to Robert and Eunice Conlon in Hayfield, Iowa, on October 19, 1910 and died on February 17, 2008, in Minneapolis, where she had resided since 1994. She grew up on a homestead near Beach, ND, moving to Fargo with her family in 1921, where she was educated at St. Anthony School, Sacred Heart Academy, and NDSU. She graduated from NDSU in 1934, after which she undertook graduate study in social work at the University of Minnesota. Besides practicing social work during the Great Depression, she also taught school at Pettibone, ND and Browerville, MN. In 1938 she married Frederick W. Leppert, whom she had met in college; they settled at Sarles, ND, where the Lepperts farmed and ran a hardware. In 1943, while continuing to farm, they bought a house in Fargo, where Eunice lived for 50 years. She was a passionate lover of music, which she passed on to her sons, and through much of her life an avid horseback rider. She was a longtime member of Nativity parish, where she sang in the choir. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and seven of her ten siblings. She is survived by her sons, John (Deming, NM) and Richard (Minneapolis), four grandchildren; and sisters Elizabeth Conlon (Fargo) and Mary Briscoe (Fountain Valley, CA), and her brother John Conlon (Long Beach, CA).
