Evelyn M. Galvin, 100, passed away Friday, May 4, 2007 at Elim Care Center in Fargo. Evelyn Blake Galvin was born to Neil and Mary (Reilly) Blake on August 1, 1906 at Green Isle, Minnesota. She grew up in Fargo, graduating from Fargo High School. Evelyn then attended Minnesota State Teacher?s College, Moorhead. Her first teaching position was at Ben Franklin Elementary in Fargo. She taught there for a short time before teaching at Hawthorne Elementary School for a few years. Evelyn Blake married Francis Galvin on June 8, 1939 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fargo. She taught for one year before devoting herself full time to being a homemaker. They lived in north Fargo. He preceded her in death in 1980. Evelyn was one of the first residents of Riverview Place and spent many happy years there. After a brief illness she moved to Elim. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Judy (John) Gunkelman, Fargo, ND, Robert (Barb) Blake, Austin, TX, Blake (Betsy) O?Lavin, Corpus Christi, TX, Carol (Mike) Bickman, St. Paul, MN, and Jean Zielinski, Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband and siblings: Margaret Blake, Dorothy O?Lavin, Veronica Zielinski, Lucille Blake, John Blake, Charles Blake, and James Blake. Memorials are preferred to Riverview Place or Elim Care Center. The funeral will be at Riverview Place, Fargo on Friday, May 11, 2007 at 3:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service.
