Evelyn Meyer died on Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home at the age of 85. Evelyn Ethel DickHoff was born on August 29, 1918, the daughter of Bernard and Emma (Rust) DickHoff, at Urbank, Minnesota. She was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church near Urbank. Evelyn and her family moved to Hillsboro, North Dakota, in 1930, where she was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in 1931. She taught Sunday School and belonged to the Young People Society. Evelyn married William "Bill" Meyer on December 9, 1939, and joined the St. John Lutheran Church. She served as superintendent of the Cradle Roll for many years and was a member of the Lutheran Women??s Missionary League at St. John Church. Evelyn and her husband retired from farming in 1984, and built a home in Hillsboro. They lived on a farm most of their lives and she enjoyed her garden and flowers. Evelyn is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Bill; her daughter, Judy Barton of Hillsboro; her grandchildren, Mark (Tanya) Buethner; Jodie Fulgium; David (Liz) Buethner; and Amy Jo Buethner; and her great grandchildren, Jesse Fulgium; Katlyn Buethner; Shauna Buethner; and Emma Rose Buethner. Also surviving is one brother, Elmer (Renata) DickHoff; sister-in-law, Ruth Rust; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Willard DickHoff; and Vernon Rust; her step-father, Albert Rust; and her son-in-law, Dennis Buethner. FUNERAL: 10:30 AM Saturday, January 17, 2004, at St. John Lutheran Church in Hillsboro VISITATION: 5-7 PM Friday at Wildeman Funeral Home in Hillsboro- and also one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Saturday.
