  5. One of the best memories I have of cousin Fr. Joe DeCrans was being out at the fishing trip in Lukach Bay. My Uncle Fr. John Lukach, my Dad and Uncle Joe were up in the camper and us kids were on the House boat. Up pulls my cousins the DeCrans. When everything was unloaded the cousins decided to go out fishing. It was around 1:00 and very still. My Uncle Fr. John said “You can’t catch walleye when it’s this hot and no wind”, “You guys are crazy”. Never the less, the brothers took off with Fr. Bill piloting the boat. They came trolling up the bank about 3 hours later and landed by the house boat. Fr. John and the Uncles came down to see how they did. Fr. Joe just pulled up the stringer with about 15 nice walleyes on it and “Grinned from ear to ear”!! Kind of a stick that in your pipe and smoke it that we can’t catch walleye at this time of day. It was one of the best trips we had at the annual fishing trip at Newtown, ND. Love it.

  6. One of my favorite memories was when Father Joe took Kayla, my friend Donna, and me out on his boat. Paul Sagaser and Joe told us jokingly that girls on a boat were bad luck. That day, Fr. Joe lost a brand new fishing pole in the water, our towels were taken by the wind, we didn’t catch a single fish, and his boat took on water, leaving us stranded until The Rivelands came to get us. He remained calm and stoic—just cracked open a beer and reminded us that girls on a boat were indeed bad luck! Father Joe, you will be missed! Fishing at the family reunion won’t be the same without you.

  7. Father Joe father Joe.

So much to say about father Joe. Great fisher! Amazing man. One to always make you smile and laugh. Love this man with all my heart. He would always crack jokes about us on the boat but would be the first to catch a fish. Father Joe is an amazing man who could do no wrong. I will Never forget the wine and lollipops when we were kids. Love you so much.

  8. I have such fond memories of taking Father Joe fishing with a group of people. He caught many more fish than the rest of us combined. Such a wonderful person. He will be missed.

  9. Fr. Joe was such a special man. He was the associate my first years at Cathedral School. The night before school started in our new building, he was fixing all the toilets. He and Fr. Krebs made such a great team, they complemented each other so well. He was also well know for his candy bucket, especially on Fridays at recess. God Bless you Fr. Joe, you were one of my favorites!

  10. Fr. Joe and I were first cousins. Being at separate ends of the Lukach family lines. Him one of the oldest(Helen) and I being the youngest(Daniel), 28 years difference, we didn’t get to know each other well. He gave me the honor of performing my wedding, 24 years ago. Making it a beautiful celebration with a little humor at the end. I will never forget. Thank you cousin Fr. Joe for everything you gave to us.

  11. Saying a prayer for Father Joe and all the DeCrans family today. We are thankful Fr. Joe was able to officiate the marriage of our daughter Tara and his nephew Nick DeCrans in Bismarck at the Cathedral in 2015. 🙏 ⛪️ May he rest in peace.

  12. Fr. Joe and I met through my family in Twin Valley at St. Williams Catholic church. He was a kind and gentle man and served our Lord as he did our country. May he rest in Peace from another Marine Corps Vet. As our motto Semper Fi “Always Faithful”
