Florence’s Graveside Service

Florence Christine Brownlee of Fargo went home to heaven, surrounded by family on August 31, 2024.

She was born in Beulah, ND, on November 4, 1925 to Daniel and Elizabeth Pfennig.

Florence impacted everyone who knew her. She loved to have fun and be teased by her grandkids. She never considered herself too old to do anything! She was always willing to help and volunteered for many things. She had great faith in God that carried her throughout life’s ups and downs.

Florence valued family connections with her 14 siblings and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family… and to the end, could recite everyone’s birthdays!

She was 100% German, which is part of what kept her with us so long. Florence, “Gram,” was loved and will be missed by many.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth and Daniel, husband, Red “Gramp,” son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Terry, and granddaughter, Jennifer Jill.

Florence is survived by one sister, Betty, daughters Wilma (Elden) Stenseth and Brenda Thurn, sons Brian (Barb) Trauman and Jim Trauman, grandchildren Scott (Carolyn) Stenseth, Christy Stenseth, Carrie (Al) Stenseth, Jamie (Rena) Stenseth, Jeff (Sheri) Trauman, Ryan Trauman, Sarah Witt, Darren (Amy) Modin, Tracy (Adrian) Mangone, Elizabeth (Maulik) Dabhi, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Prayer service will be held at 5:00 pm on Thursday, September 5 at Boulger Funeral Home with burial in Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.

Guestbook

  1. Gram was a special lady and we will miss her greatly! I will always remember her smile and laugh – she loved to laugh! Scott could usually get Gram laughing even when she was upset about something. And yes, Gram was feisty at times, but she had a good heart and cared about her family, especially her grandkids. She is now in Heaven reunited with her loved ones talking up a storm! Rest in Peace Gram – we love you!!

  2. Brenda, Kristin and Brian and family I send my deepest sympathy and hugs at this very sad time of the passing of your Mom and Grandma. Any time she and I visited she made me smile🩷

  3. Florence and I have been friends from way way back when they lived in Devils Lake and we went to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. We had many good times and good laughs. She was a thoughtful, caring and giving lady. In later years after they moved Wes and I would go to Fargo for different occasions and we were always asked to stay at the Brownlee Hilton. Such a great bed and breakfast she ran.
I am so saddened that now I am ready to move back to ND and couldn’t wait to visit with her in person and talk about old times. She didn’t wait for me, but I know she is happy in her new home, face to face with Jesus.
I send my sympathy to all the family. You will miss her, but she is happy in heaven.
    That is your comfort.
    God bless you all.
