Florence M.?Mimi? Olson, age 96, of Fargo ND, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Elim Care Center in Fargo. Florence Magdalene Gerlach was born February 2, 1911 in Fargo to Albert and Olga (Flore) Gerlach. She attended St. Mary?s Catholic School and Sacred Heart Academy in Fargo. She worked as the head of the Children?s Department at Waterman?s Department Store in Moorhead, MN and later at Moody?s Department Store in Fargo. Florence married Bert Olson of Rothsay, MN November 22, 1958 at St. Mary?s Cathedral in Fargo. They made their home in Fargo and spent their retirement years at Riverview Place also in Fargo. Bert passed away January 11, 1996. Florence entered Elim Care Center in December 2002. Florence is survived by three sisters, Marion Skauge of Moorhead, Rose (James) Moe of Grand Forks, Lucille Wayman of Detroit Lakes; one brother, Frank (Gail) Gerlach of Bonita Springs, FL; brother-in-law, Olaf Olson Jr. of Rothsay; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bert; two brothers, George and James. Mimi was a member of Saint Mary?s Cathedral in Fargo and had attended the Chapel at Riverview Place after her retirement and was active in the choir at both. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and working crossword puzzles. Although she and Bert never had children of their own, they provided an excellent daycare in their home for several lucky young children. She had a special touch with her many beautiful house plants and was happy to share them with the other residents while she lived at Riverview Place. Blessed be the memory of Florence ?Mimi? Olson.
