Florence Schmidt

Florence died under Palliative Care at Sanford Medical Center on December 15, 2011 at the age of 90.

Florence was born on May 22, 1921 in Perry Township ND, the oldest daughter of Adolph and Nellie (Lorenz) Dietz.  She grew up on a farm in the area but later moved to Chicago IL in 1939.  She met Julius Schmidt and they were united in marriage on January 10, 1942.  They moved near Nekoma, ND thereafter and began farming.  They moved To Fargo in 1954 and Florence worked for J C Penny Co and the Fargo Public School system. 

Florence will be remembered by her family and friends for her devotion to family, her compassion and fondness for children.

Surviving are her two sons Larry (Barbara), Ballwin, MO and Roger (Kathy), Imperial, MO, and daughter Cleo (Ron) Peterson, Fargo, ND; three sisters, Elsie Heck, Langdon, ND, Marie Krom, Devils Lake, ND and Helen (Edgar) Erickson, Alliance, NE; four grandchildren, Chad (Crissy) Schmidt, Joel Schmidt, Kami White and Kara Peterson, 5 great-grandchildren, Zachary and David Schmidt, Kameron and Karena White and Kyler Entzi.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Julius, her parents and her brother, Robert,    

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Guardian Angel Program of the Palliative Care Center at the Sanford Medical Center.
