Born in:
Oslo, Minnesota
Resided in:

Floyd passed away on Friday, November 25th at Sanford Hospice House in Fargo, North Dakota, at the age of 90.
Floyd Emil Overson was born December 14, 1931, the son of Andrew and Belma (Lofthus) Overson. He grew up in rural Oslo and was united in marriage to Joy Paulson on August 20, 1950. They made their home in Oslo for many years before moving to Grand Forks in 1977.
In 1951, Floyd enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in Okinawa, Japan, Texas, and Colorado. In his civilian life, Floyd worked for many years in civil service at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. After his retirement from civil service, Floyd worked part-time at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks until health issues forced him to retire.
For many years, Floyd and Joy enjoyed spending time at their lake cabin. They also enjoyed time with their grandchildren and in later years, their great-grandchildren. Floyd was a long-time member of the American Legion.
In 2011, Floyd and Joy moved to Moorhead, Minnesota to be closer to family. After a 65-year marriage, Joy passed away in 2016. Floyd is survived by his son, Reed (Kathie) Overson of Bismarck, ND; daughter, Natalie (Nola Bayes) Lind of Moorhead, MN; his grandchildren, Farrah Joy (Todd) Marsh of Fargo, ND; Josh (Holly) Overson and Scott (Nancy) Overson of Bismarck, ND; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy, and his parents.
Floyd moved to Eventide assisted living at the Linden in Moorhead in 2022 and had recently transferred to the Sanford Hospice House in Fargo, ND. The family would like to express their gratitude to both Eventide, the Linden and Sanford Hospice for their excellent care during Floyd’s last months.

Will forever be remembered as my Grandpa Floyd across the street on Baron Blvd. I love this family so much and am so thankful for their precious granddaughter, and my best friend, Farrah Joy. Love and hugs to you all! Precious memories will forever be treasured.
Lots of good memories on many hunting trips with Floyd.
Our thoughts/prayers & sympathy for Reed, Kathie & all of the family in the passing of Floyd. May each of you hold onto the good memories of him! With our heartfelt sympathy & prayers, friends, Gary & Jan G.
Our condolences to you Natalie and your family on the loss of your Dad. I enjoyed working with Floyd at the hospital. He was always friendly and very kind to me. May all your memories of him give you comfort today and in the days to come.
Reed & Natalie,
I just found out about this news and sorry for your loss. I always liked your dad and wish we could have spent more time together. You were not aware of this but it’s because of your father that I enlisted in the Air Force. Always admired and looked up to your dad. My deepest sympathies & condolences.
