gail jacobson

Gail passed away on July 29, 2012 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo at the age of 74.

Gail Hagglund was born on November 18, 1937, the daughter of Adolph and Hilda (Kjlesrud) Hagglund in Oslo, MN. She grew up in the Alvarado, MN area and graduated from Alvarado High School in 1954. Gail was united in marriage to Duane Jacobson on March 2, 1958 in Alvarado. They made their home in Kindred until 1961 when they moved back to Alvarado where they raised their family. Duane and Gail moved to Fargo in 1989 and she began working at the Westside Elementary School in West Fargo as a cook, retiring in June of this year. Duane passed away on January 5, 2005. Gail loved spending time with her family – especially her grandchildren. She cherished the many friendships she made over the years, most recently at Willowpark Apartments.

Gail is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Jurgens of Eagan, MN; her son, Jeffrey (Carrie) Jacobson of Maple Grove, MN; her grandchildren, Joshua Jurgens, Grace Jacobson, and Gillian Jacobson. Also surviving are her siblings, Dorothy (Vern) Kiffmeyer of Becker, MN; and Rick (Sandi) Hagglund of Annandale, MN; her in-laws, Mary (Alfred) Lieseth, Janice Peterson, Judy (Peter) Larson, Shirley Johnson, Charles (Sandi) Jacobson, and Sharon (Patrick) Connley; and several nieces and nephews.

Gail was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; her parents; and her brothers, Dallas and Donald.

Guestbook

  1. Federal Way WAGail’s Family – I want to express my sympathy for the loss of your mother. Your mother and I were cousins. The relationship being that our mothers were sisters. My mom was Oline (Kjlesrud) Olson. Your mother and I kept it contact. We exchanged Christmas cards, and when I was in the Fargo area visiting my extended family we would get together. I’m 83 years old now and I no longer travel so it’s been a few years since I’ve seen your mother. I have fond memories of her and I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

We are so sorry for your family’s loss. There was no preparing for your mom/grandma’s passing, which makes it more difficult. We hope you find peace in knowing that she is resting peacefully in heaven with your dad/grandpa. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you and your family through during this difficult time.

Our thoughts are with all of you as you lay your mom/grandma to rest with the angels. Peace and blessings …

  5. Osage MN
Gail’s family: Most of you don’t know me, but I am a cousin of Duane’s. My Mom just passed away a year ago last March (Gerry Doyle) and thought the world of Gail, and her cousin Duane, who she always called on for any plumbing and heating problems, but on his “house calls”, she enjoyed their visits way more than just the work he provided. After Duane passed, Mom talked many times to Gail and I know Mom and the Jacobson family, has greeted Gail in God’s kingdom. May He keep you in his loving care throughout this most difficult time.

  6. Jeff and JoAnn,
We are so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. We will always remember her fondly from our days at Elim and from Alvarado. She was a good friend to Dale’s mom.
You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

  16. Seattle WAJeff – so sorry to hear about your mom. It doesn’t matter how old you are – it still hurts to lose your mom.

I can remember sitting in your kitchen in Alvarado, and Gail just shaking her head over the latest crazy story that you were telling her.

Alvarado was a great place to grow up, and that’s because of wonderful people like your mom and dad.

  17. Grafton ND
My sincere sympathy to Gail’s family.

I did not know your mother and grandmother until my daughter and son-in-law moved in to the same apartment building as her last fall. She was a very friendly and warm person who always spoke with us in the hallway and entry meeting space at the apartment building. Through our brief conversations, we learned we shared acquaintances both in Grafton and Park River where I grew up. She will certainly be missed by her neighbors.

  18. West Fargo ND
I lived in the same apartment building with Gail for 3 years, and always enjoyed visiting with her. She had a beautiful personality.
