gary

Gary “Bear” Lee Rada, 76, Fargo, ND passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on November 15th, 2023 at Eventide in Fargo, under the care of Hospice.

Gary was born March 29, 1947 in Oakes ND to Gladys and Frank Rada.

Gary graduated from Breckenridge High School and proudly enlisted to serve our country with the US Army from 1968-1972 until he was honorably discharged. Gary helped raised 3 children in his first marriage (Kyle, Andrea and Amy). He worked his early adult years as a highly respected mechanic and in 1990 he married the love of his life, Vicki Dietz. They were inseparable. He was so proud of the business he helped build from the ground up as they opened WeeKare ChildKare together in 1992. Vicki passed away in 2020 and a big piece of his heart went with her that day. Gary was passionate about many things! Family, friends, the Chicago Bears, cooking (he was the grill master), John Wayne movies, collecting cookbooks, “happy hour” (or two) on his deck and giving the best bear hugs! He adored his grandchildren and was so proud of all of them. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Gary is survived by his 3 children, Kyle Kragnes, Andrea (Bob) Burner, Amy (Keith) Friend; grandchildren, Jackson, Jordyn, Emma, Kacie, Brody and Cooper; father-in-Law, Wayne Dietz; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vicki; 2 bothers, Emery (Betty) Osier and Lyle (Phyllis) Osier; 2 sisters, Janice (Jerry) Olson and Lyla (Russ) Greenly; and mother-in-Law, Donna Dietz.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 28th at 10:00 AM at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo with visitation starting at 9:00 AM. Please join the family for refreshments to follow. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton.
