Resided in:

Gary passed away at the age of 82 years, 5 months, and 20 days, on April 26, 2024, at Sanford Hospice House, Fargo, ND, after a long battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed.
Gary was born on November 6, 1941, to Halger F. Lindgren and Bertha E. (Buringrud) Lindgren. He was raised on the farm in Herberg Township outside of Hillsboro, ND. He attended school, grades 1 – 8 at Herberg Township School, and graduated from Northwest School of Agriculture, Crookston, Minnesota. He also attended the College of Architecture at NDAC in Fargo, North Dakota.
He married Carole Kragness and together had 3 sons, Nathan, Daniel and Benjamin. He purchased the Lloyd Hermanson farm and farmed with his father
until 1982. He then formed Lindgren Enterprises that offered excavating and trucking services. With a fleet of 6 trucks they hauled various goods and delivered sugar beets to the Hillsboro Sugar Beet Factory. Later he moved to Texas, earned his real estate license and sold/rented houses and other real estate. He also owned and operated a trucking business hauling various goods throughout the U.S.
Eventually he returned home to North Dakota and was an independent truck owner hauling over the road for Holland Transport in Mapleton, ND, for many years.
His last trucking adventure was with TransSystems hauling sugar beets to the Moorhead and Hillsboro factories until his health began to fail.
In 2005 he purchased a condominium for himself and his parents to provide them a beautiful home as they grew older.
Gary was an independant, free spirit. He loved to be with people and throughout his years of over the road trucking he was given the opportunity to see different parts of the country, spend time with distant family and meet many other people from all walks of life. He greatly enjoyed his fellow TransSystem workers and supervisors.
He looked forward to meet with old friends every Saturday morning for breakfast, talking of happenings in their lives and reminiscing of the “good old days”.
Gary is survived by his sons, Nathan (Michelle) Lindgren, Moorhead, MN; Daniel (Renae) Lindgren, Argyle, MN and Benjamin (Tonya) Larson, Winston-Salem, NC; 11 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren; Sisters Kathy Schultz, Fargo, ND; Sue (Tom) Brennan, Scottsdale, AZ; and brother Larry (Patty) Lindgren, Fargo, ND; along with many nieces, nephews.
A private gathering of family and close friends will be held at Gary’s home, 2501 30th Ave S, Fargo ND, on Sunday afternoon, May 19, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., to share happy memories and stories of Gary.
