Gary J. Borud

Gary J. Borud, 75, Fargo, died Friday, July 7, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Fargo. He was born June 22, 1942 in Wahpeton, ND to Conroy and Onnelee (Crane) Borud. He attended Wyndmere Public Schools. From 1960 to 1964, Gary served his country in the Navy, aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk. He married Sylvia (Ristow) on June 5, 1971. Gary was employed as a mechanic and construction worker and spent 20 years as a truck mechanic for Cass Clay Creamery in Fargo. Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Onnelee, his father, Conroy, and brother David. He is survived by his wife Sylvia, brothers Curt (Phyllis) Borud of Kindred, Jim (Mary) Borud of Walcott, and sisters Lenora Jensen of Fargo, and Shirley Berg of Walcott. The Borud family wishes to thank the staff at Sanford Hospital, the Fargo VA, and Hospice of the Red River Valley for all the loving care and assistance given to Gary and his family. Visitation from 5–7pm, Wednesday, July 12, 2017, with service at 7pm. Memorial Mass held Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 3pm. Both services will be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo.
