Resided in: Roseau, Minnesota

Gary D. Wold, 84, of Roseau, MN, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Eventide Senior Care in Moorhead, MN.

Gary was born to Clarence and Helga (Magnuson) Wold on June 8, 1942. He attended grade school in Ross and high school at the Crookston Northwest School of Agriculture.

Gary grew up on a farm located in Ross, MN, and his love for farming started as a child. He farmed many acres of small grain, raised cattle, sheep, and swine. He was an avid horseman in his younger years. Later in life, he worked as a butcher, training numerous people on his skilled cutting techniques.

Gary and his wife Jane purchased and operated Earl’s Drive-In for 11 years, which included running a highly successful catering business. After retiring from the drive-in and catering business, Gary and Jane enjoyed sunny winters at their home in Lake Havasu City, AZ. During retirement, they started a local lefse business, earning Gary the nickname “Lefse King”.

Gary was an active, long-time member of the Eagle’s Club. He loved to fish for walleye on Lake of the Woods and hunt deer in Lost River State Forest. He also took many memorable elk hunting trips to Colorado and Montana. When he was young, he was an avid cross-country snowmobile racer, winning many events over the years.

Gary was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was married to Ruby (Roberts) Berg from 1964 to 1986, and married Jane (Ploof) Wold, with whom he shared his life from 1988 until her passing in 2019. In his final year, Gary found love and happiness again with his companion, Jane Hoy.

He is survived by his children: Bryan (Krissy) Wold of Reiles Acres, ND; Mark Wold of Badger, MN; Chad (Jessica) Wold of Stillwater, MN; Tara Wold of Colorado Springs, CO; Christopher Wold and Traci (Janel) Wold, both of Roseau; stepchildren: Brenda (Tom) Grawberger, Teri (Doug) Magnusson, and Roger (Tunna) Lund, all of Roseau; Tracy Lund of Polk City, IA; and Tim Lund of Phoenix, AZ; and siblings: Clarice Webster, Ivan (Barbara) Wold, Elaine (Ray) Anderson, Eloise (Dennis) Sobtzak, and Diane (Bruce) Tolzmann; as well as many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Helga; his wife, Jane; his brothers, Donald and Allan; daughter, Tricia; and great-grandchild, Wyatt.

Gary’s family would like to thank Eventide Senior Care and Ethos Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Concordia Lutheran Church (Ross Parish), located at 30019 Co Rd 10, Roseau, MN. Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of remembrance and fellowship immediately following the service.
