Genieve Weest Whitmore, age 69, beloved mother, sister, daughter, and friend, of Fargo, ND, passed away on April 5, 2024, at Sanford Hospice House surrounded by family.

Genieve was born on October 27, 1954, in Fargo, ND, to Milton and Joanne (Nelson) Whitmore. She was raised in Hope, ND and graduated from Hope High School in 1972. After high school she attended Humboldt Institute in Minneapolis, MN. In 1976 she moved to Austin, TX and was employed at Texas Instruments before venturing into the world of entrepreneurship, founding her own business, WW Global Logistics. Her passion for her work was only matched by her devotion to her family.

In September of 1988 Genieve married Robert “Bob” Weest, and together they welcomed their son, Gordon, into the world.

Beyond her professional achievements, Genieve found joy in the simple things in life. She had a passion for antiquing, baking delicious treats, exploring new destinations, and cherishing moments with her family. After spending 41 fulfilling years in Austin, Texas, she retired in 2017 and decided on a change of scenery, moving to Charleston, SC. She remained there for four years before relocating to Grand Forks, ND in 2021 and then recently moved to Fargo to be near family.

Genieve is survived by her loving son, Gordon Weest; and her siblings, Gail (Ty) Hauge, Greg (Laura) Whitmore, and Glorianne Whitmore (Susie Sagedahl); and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Garth Whitmore; and Gordon’s father, Bob Weest.

A Celebration of Life honoring Genieve will take place from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Hope Senior Center in Hope, ND. Burial will take place at Hope Cemetery.

May Genieve rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
