Gerald Skogen, known to most as “Bud”, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home at the age of 87.

Bud was born on February 2, 1939, the son of Edwin and Frances (Moen) Skogen. He grew up on a farm near Hillsboro, ND, and received his education in this area. He lived in Hillsboro his entire life where he helped area farmers in his younger years. Bud was a quiet, but friendly guy, who loved to drive around the city of Hillsboro and stop and visit with his neighbors and friends.

Bud was preceded in death by most of his family members – including his parents, Edwin and Frances Skogen; his brother, Clayton (Arlene) Skogen; his aunts, Isabelle (Galen “Buck”) Jeffers and Blanche Eidum; his uncle, Lloyd Moen; and his cousin, Barry Jeffers.

Area survivors include his cousins – Vicki Madsen, Randy Jeffers, Ann Klemetson, and Laurie Olson; and several other distant relatives and friends from Hillsboro.

Burial will take place in the spring at Riverside Cemetery in Hillsboro, next to his parents. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Boulger Funeral Chapel in Hillsboro, ND.
