Gerald’s Live Streamed Service can be viewed below starting shortly before his service:

Gerald Wayne Stuhr, age 78 of Barnesville, MN, passed away on Sept. 6, 2022 at Eventide in Moorhead.
Gerald was born on 2-9-1944 to Lloyd and Dorothy (Bernardy) Stuhr. Jerry attended school in Barnesville and farmed most of his life on the family homestead.
He married Patricia Bailey on April 22, 2000 in Bismarck, becoming a proud step-dad to Steve (Mary) Selzler and Danny (Sara) Selzler and grandpa to their children.
Jerry and Patti enjoyed many years together on the farm. The grandkids loved to visit and play on the hay bales and see the miniature horses. In 2007, Jerry and Patti sold the original farmhouse, retaining several acres and building their own home with a large shop for Jerry to continue to spend many hours tinkering and fixing whatever needed fixing. Jerry also worked as a custodian for Moorhead public schools for several years. Upon retiring from the school system, Jerry continued his haying operation up until a few years ago.
When Patti was diagnosed with cancer, Jerry served as her loving caregiver and made sure they made lasting memories while visiting family and friends on a cross country motorhome trip prior to Patti’s death in 2013.
Jerry is survived by his step-sons Steve (Mary) Selzler and Danny (Sara) Selzler, his grandchildren Zach (fiancé Brooke Lentz) Selzler, Las Vegas, NV; Lexi (Cody) Macdonald and Sarah Selzler, Bismarck; Dylan Selzler, Madison Selzler, Olivia Owen, and John Owen, Moorhead, MN; and Isabelle Sinkler, West Fargo; his brother Gary, Fargo, and sister Joanne Miller, Jefferson, GA. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews Mark (Zonia) Schuman, Paula (Trent) Johnson, Tom (Lauren) Schuman, David (Maren) Schuman, Roxanne Stuhr, and Jacqueline (John) Baarstad.
He was preceded in death by wife Patti, his parents, his in-laws Clifford and Katherine Bailey, his sister Diane (Leo) Schuman and brother-in-law Ron Miller.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 10:00 AM at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo. A visitation will take place prior to the service at 9:00 AM. Jerry has been cremated and his remains will be laid to rest alongside Patti at Fairview Cemetery in Bismarck at a later date.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Eventide on Eighth for their excellent care provided to Jerry over the last several months, as well as Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Every time John and I would visit with Jerry it wasn’t long before he’d share, “Patti used to say…”
He’d tell a joke or two and had a great attitude that included living life on life’s terms.
This picture that I took in 2018 is of my husband John, uncle Jerry and my dad Gary and was at the conclusion of a spontaneous days visit to Jerry’s home. Jerry very much enjoyed chatting, laughing and reminiscing. We will miss him.

  2. Jerry was my brother in law and being married to my sister Patti was the best thing that ever happened for both of them! Jerry loved Patti like no other and she was so very lucky to have him in her life! He always had a new joke to share with us and always kept us entertained. He truly was the salt of the earth and we’ll miss him every day. We all know that he and Patti are carrying on a lively conversation in heaven! Love you Jerry!!
