July 24, 1963 ~ December 25, 2025

Born in: Moorhead, Minnesota
Resided in: Moorhead, Minnesota

Gilberto Flores, 62, passed away on December 25, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center from cardiac arrest.

Gilbert was born July 24, 1963, at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead, Minnesota to Jose and Consuelo Flores of Dilworth, Minnesota. Gilbert was raised and attended high school in Dilworth. He graduated high school in Moorhead, Minnesota with a GED.

Gilbert’s favorite sport in high school was wrestling due to his two mentors, Jimmy Rickel and Gary Enger, who believed in his ability to do well. Wrestling taught Gilbert discipline and teamwork.

Gilbert had a gift for restoring motorcycles and pickups. He had an exceptional talent for bringing old motorcycles and pickups back to life, turning rust and dust into shining works of art; like his 1975 FLH Wide Glide motorcycle and his 1970 CT Chevy Pickup.

Gilbert was incredibly talented, kind, and intelligent, but unfortunately struggles in life overshadowed his potential. Gilbert’s heart saw value where others saw fault. Although Gilbert had many nieces and nephews that he loved. His niece, Sarah Guerrero, was like a burst of sunshine for him. Sarah was a little girl whose eyes sparkled with wonder. Her laughter could light up the darkest of days for him. After Sarah passed away, the pain of her absence was deep and the void she left behind was vast. Gilbert tried to find solace in knowing that her spirit remained with him. Our mother was the heart of our family. She provided the love, care, and strength that held us together. She provided positivity to us no matter the circumstances. No matter what we did, she saw the light in us and knew we could do better, be better; no one needed her more than Gilbert. He always knew he could lean on our mom. She was there for him no matter the circumstances. Losing her changed everything for our family, but especially for Gilbert. His guardian angel was gone. When Gilbert passed on Christmas Day, we believe he passed not only from cardiac arrest, but from a broken heart.

We will honor his memory not by wallowing in sorrow, but by embracing the vibrant, fearless, and loving free spirit he embodied every day of his life.

Gilbert is survived by his siblings, Rosa (Harold) Hofmaister, Moorhead, MN; John (Karol) Flores, Port Charles, Florida; Maria (Randy) Nelson, Sabin, MN; Oscar Flores, Fargo, ND; Janie (Jerry) Haussler, Fargo, ND; nieces, Savanna (Chris) and Tarryn (Ryan); nephews, Joshua, Sean, and Kasen Flores; and many more great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Consuelo Flores.
