D. Glenn Christianson, age 87, of Hillsboro, North Dakota, died on Saturday, August 7, 2004, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home. Douglas Glenn Christianson was born on October 11, 1916, in Bloomfield Township, the son of Andrew and Mabel (Bruton) Christianson. He was baptized on July 7, 1918, and confirmed on April 26, 1931, at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. He grew up in this area and graduated from Hillsboro High School. After graduation, Glenn worked on the family farm and for area farmers until entering the United States Army during WW II. He proudly served his country in the European Theater of Operation where he was stationed in England and Germany. Upon his discharge, he returned to North Dakota where he worked on construction projects, including the Drayton Sugar Beet Plant and the Grand Forks Air Base. He also worked winters on the Ice Gang for the Burlington Northern Railroad. In later years, Glenn worked for area farmers and on the family farm near Hillsboro. They moved into Hillsboro in 1973, and he retired from farming in 1986. Glenn was a proud member of the Hillsboro American Legion and VFW. Glenn is survived by his sister, Mavis (Richard) Baglien of Oceanside, California; sister-in-law, Margaret Christianson of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Clinton, Art, and Everett.
