Gloria S. Garcia
October 14, 1936 ~ September 25, 2023
Gloria’s funeral Mass will be livestreamed below starting at 2:00 PM Monday October 2, 2023.
Gloria Sylvia Garcia entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Eventide – Sheyenne Crossings Assisted Living/Memory Care surrounded by her family. She was born on October 14, 1936 to Justo and Cristela Garcia in Falfurrias, TX.
Gloria Sylvia Garcia was married on November 23, 1960 to Leopoldo C. Garcia in Falfurrias, TX. Gloria and Leopoldo went on to have two daughters Veronica (Elvia Sauceda) and Bonnie (Xavier “Dandy”) Villarreal. In 1997, Gloria became a grandmother to Gabriela Villarreal, daughter of Bonnie and Xavier. Gloria also extended arms with love to Sarah Sauceda, daughter of Elvia and Veronica. Gloria loved to spend time with Gabriela, singing, dancing and going shopping. She would sing Que Sera Sera by Doris Day to her granddaughter, Gabriela, up until her final weeks living. Family and friends held a special place in Gloria’s heart.
Gloria attended a Catholic elementary school in Falfurrias, Texas which was the foundation of the faithful and virtuous life she would go on to live. She worked at the Falfurrias Chamber of Commerce and Red Path Apparel over her years of employment. Gloria was especially passionate in her work with the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Gloria enjoyed tending to her flowers, the occasional trip to a casino and a quick trip to Dairy Queen. She was proud to be a Texas born and raised girl. In addition, she was proud to be a Catholic woman, a faithful wife and a loving, supportive mother and grandmother. We take solace in knowing she is in Heaven and that we will be together someday in God’s Kingdom.
Preceding Gloria in death were her loving husband, Leopoldo Garcia; her parents Justo and Cristela Garcia; her sister Mari Canales; her son-in-law Xavier “Dandy” Villarreal.
She leaves behind many precious memories that will be treasured by her daughters, Bonnie and Veronica; granddaughter, Gabriela; brother, Oscar (Viola) Garcia, alongside several extended family members and friends.
Gloria’s family members would like to give special thanks to all of the staff at Eventide – Sheyenne Crossings for their care and compassion. We thank you for providing her with love, ice cream and dancing (shake it, but don’t break it). Family also would like to extend our gratitude to Ethos Hospice for all of the staff that provided care and comfort.
