Harriet Benzinger

Harriet Benzinger, age 95, Hillsboro, died on Friday, May 21, 2004, in the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home. Harriet McCready was born July 17, 1908, near Hastings, ND, the daughter of Bert and Ida (Wagner) McCready. She grew up and attended school in the Valley City, ND, area. On December 24, 1931, she was united in marriage to Edward Benzinger in Valley City. They farmed in the Valley City area for many years prior to moving to Erhard, MN, where they farmed until retirement. They moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, and lived for a number of years prior to moving to Hillsboro in 1985. Edward died in 1986. Harriet had been a resident of the Hillsboro Nursing Home for the past two years. She was an avid collector and a charter member of the Shady Hollow Flea Market. She is survived by her son, Dale (Carolyn) Benzinger of Hillsboro; granddaughter, Robyn (Tod) Goering of Fargo; and great grandchildren, Adam, Alicia, and Christian. She is also survived by a special sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Tom and sister Iris. Memorial Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004, in the Hillsboro Senior Citizen Center. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Hillsboro. Arrangements by Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
