Helen Lilleberg

Helen Christine Lilleberg, age 91, of Hillsboro, ND, and formerly of Cummings, ND, passed away on May 29, 2003, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Hospital. Helen Munson was born March 6, 1912, to Frank A. and Ida Mae (Peterson) Munson of Greenville Township of Bureau County, Illinois. She spent the first five years of her life here before moving with her parents to a farm near Niagara, ND. She attended grade school and high school at Niagara, ND, and received her Teaching Certificate from Mayville State Teachers College. She taught in rural and town schools in Inkster, Buxton, Lakota and Larimore, ND. She married Harvey J. Lilleberg of Cummings, ND, on June 9, 1942, shortly before he was to leave for active duty during World War II. After Harvey?s discharge from active duty, they moved to a farm northeast of Cummings where they lived and farmed until their retirement in 1974. They continued to live on the farm until 1993, when they purchased a house in Hillsboro. Helen entered the Hillsboro Nursing Home in October of 2001. Harvey passed away on January 17, 2003. Helen was active in her community serving on township election boards and in her church Ladies Aid activities and as treasurer of the church for many years. Helen will be remembered as an avid crocheter. Helen is survived by a sister, Marian of Rochester, Mn, brothers-in-law, Kenneth and Irvin of Hillsboro, ND and Vernon(Edith) Lilleberg of Grand Forks, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey, and sisters-in-law, Constance and Lillian. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at the Highland Lutheran Church, rural Cummings, ND. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 3, 2003, from 6:30 to 7:30 with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Hillsboro Nursing Home. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Wednesday. Burial will be held in the Highland Lutheran Church Cemetery. Arrangements are with Wildeman Funeral Home Hillsboro.
