Herb Grothmann

Herb passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at his home in Hillsboro under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley at the age of 83.

Herbert F. Grothmann was born on March 2, 1930, the son of Herman and Margarete (Steffen) Grothmann in Blanchard, ND. He grew up on the family farm and attended Blanchard School. After his schooling he worked on the family farm. Herb was married to Joyce Anderson on November 22, 1952. Herb worked various construction jobs in North Dakota while she taught school. He worked in Fargo for a few years until returning to Hillsboro where he worked for the City of Hillsboro. Herb was united in marriage to Helen (Kjos) Johnson in 2001 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Fargo. They made their home in Hillsboro.

Herb is survived by his wife, Helen of Hillsboro; his stepdaughters, Renee Kjos and Julie Hunter; seven step grandchildren; and his brother, Herman of Menlo Park, CA.
