Hilton Barnes, 78, passed away 9-1-23 after struggling with his health for several years.
Hilton was born August 16, 1945 In Oakes, ND to Hilton and Catherine Barnes. He attended St. Charles school and then Oakes High School, active in sports, esp. wrestling and football. He served in the US Navy and then attended Wahpeton State School of Science.
He married Sandra Titus, June 1970. They lived in Minneapolis suburbs then moved to Fargo, 1972. They raised 2 daughters.
He was an avid sports fan following NDSU Bison, and he loved reading.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, 1 brother and 1 grandson. He is survived by 2 sisters, 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren.
There will be no public funeral, just a small celebration of life by close family. In lieu of cards or gifts, Hilton just wants you to go out and tell someone a story about him–how you met or something that you shared.
So sorry for the loss of Uncle Junior!! I remember always stopping on my way home from Mayville or the way back. I even had to stay over due to black ice on the way home. Please tell my mom and Grandparents hello from me
