Inez Grangaard

Inez G. Grangaard, 98, Fargo passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo.
Inez was born October 18, 1919 in Hickson, North Dakota to Helfred and Bertina (Hatlestad) Smeby. She worked as a secretary in the business field and attended NDSU in Office training school. She then attended Interstate Business College. She worked for General Mills for a short time before working at the Veterans Administration Hospital and finally Fargo North High School where she was a teacher’s aide from 1965-1982 before her retirement.
She was united in marriage to Robert Grangaard on October 11, 1947 at the Congregational Church in Moorhead, MN. Robert passed away on October 14, 2009.
She moved to Bethany Retirement Living in 2003 and she enjoyed reading and painting water colors until her early 90’s. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.
Throughout the years, Inez enjoyed camping with her family, square dancing and ballroom dancing.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Grangaard, Fargo; son-in-law, Al Jaeger, Bismarck; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, daughter, Kathleen Jaeger and eight siblings.
Funeral Service: 1:00 P.M. Friday, July 6, 2018 at Boulger Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center, Fargo with visitation starting at 12:00 P.M.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
Inez was the secretary in the Social Studies department at North High for many years. She was truly a kind soul and may she rest in peace.
I am glad to have met her, Wayne. You were a wonderful son to her.
