Inez L. Tweed

August 13, 1925 ~ December 15, 2020
Inez Lorraine Tweed, age 95, resident of Fargo, ND, formerly of Wimbledon, ND, passed away
on December 15, 2020 in her home surrounded by family and assisted by Hospice of the Red
River Valley.
Inez was born on August 13, 1925 in rural Binford, ND to Lawrence and Clara (Hanson)
Bjornson. She was the youngest of four children growing up on their farm near Red Willow
Lake. Her parents were hardworking, generous people who often helped their neighbors, and
Inez followed their example throughout her life. The Bjornson and Hanson families were among
the founding members of the rural Zion Lutheran Church where Inez was baptized and
confirmed. Inez rode horseback or walked to attend country school, and then stayed with friends
in Binford during her high school years.
Inez met Clifford Tweed at a dance at Red Willow Lake. They were married June 24, 1945, and
Clifford was drafted into the military that September. His two-year assignment to U.S. Air Force
Intelligence took them to Baltimore, MD where Inez worked in a shoe factory. Upon returning to
North Dakota they farmed with Clifford's parents for three years and then bought a farm at
Wimbledon where they lived for 46 years. They had two children.
Clifford and Inez were active in the Wimbledon community and St John's United Methodist
Church where Inez was a leader in the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday School and
Bible School. They loved to get together with family or friends, and often hosted others for
meals. Inez loved gardening, and took pride in her yard at the farm which was filled with flowers
and shrubs. She would often bring bouquets of flowers or garden produce to elderly friends to
brighten their day.
Cliff and Inez spent 26 winters on Long Key in Florida where they made many friends, enjoying
the tropical weather and ocean fishing.
Clifford passed away in 1994, and Inez moved to a condo in Fargo in 1996. During her years in
Fargo she continued to enjoy flowers on her balcony and gardening in her neighbor's yard. She
attended First United Methodist Church in Fargo and made many new friends there. Inez kept
active by going for long walks by the river and around her neighborhood. Always the hostess,
she organized many special holiday meals and gathered her nieces and nephews for numerous
family reunions. Thankfully Inez was able to live independently in her condo until her death.
Inez was preceded in death by her husband Clifford, her parents, and her three siblings Verna
Larson, Floyd Bjornson and Albin Bjornson. She is survived by her son Bruce (Kathryn) Tweed
of West Fargo; daughter Gloria (Kendall) Nygard of Fargo; four grandchildren: Rita Tweed
(Franklin) Morrison of Jacksonville, FL, Evan Tweed of Fargo, Travis Nygard (Matthew Koski) of
Ripon, WI, and Heather Nygard (Brian Fawcett) of Missoula, MT; and several nieces and
nephews.
A graveside service and burial will be held in the summer at Sunset Memorial Gardens,
Jamestown, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Inez’s memory to a charity of
your choice.

We knew Inez and her family well for many years as a country neighbors and church members. Remembering Inez, the first thing that comes to mind is her generosity and kindness and all her lovely flowers. She and her family hosted many gatherings with food and fun in the pool that we were fortunate to attend at t their farm in Wimbledon. We always had great respect and admiration for Inez and her husband, Clifford. We also attended school with her children, Bruce and Gloria, who we are good friends of ours. A great family and an admirable woman, Inez.
Your mission accomplished. Rest in Peace.

I want to tell Inezs family that I have great memories of being out to their farm, and swimming in the pool. My Mom and Dad ,Leonard and Eileen Greshik were great friends of Inez and Cliffs. They were such gracious people, and so well liked and respected.

My late in laws John and Clara Asmus and my late husband Clifford Asmus often spoke of Inez and her parents and siblings. I know Inez was at my husband’s service but a just spoke to her briefly. Please except my sincere sympathy and prayers. Ruthie Asmus
We are the electricians that Inez would call. She was such a lovely woman. I would not charge her and she would write back or call telling me she sent a check to the Salvation Army. I’m glad she remained in the condo.
She was a beautiful person inside and out. I remember she made the best shrimp salad . they would bring back shrimp from Florida.
Thoughts & prayers for the family.
Inez was a friend of my Aunt Jean Nelson (of Moorhead). They both attended the First Methodist Church in Fargo, which is where they met, I believe. I had the pleasure of meeting Inez a couple of times when I flew out from California to visit my Aunt. I found Inez to be a warm, thoughtful, and caring person, who was genuinely concerned about my Aunt’s health and well being.
I have a wonderful memory of a visit with Inez, my Aunt Jean, and another friend, Marlys, at Bethany on 42nd, where my Aunt spent the last year of her life. We had coffee, and Danish, as we sat and chatted. We exchanged Christmas cards for a couple of years and Inez also sent me some of her recipes. Her heart was generous and I feel blessed to have met her.
