Ingval Braaten, 88, of Kindred, ND died Monday, January 9, 2006 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Ingval was born to Ole I. And Mathilda (Tryhus) Braaten on December 13, 1917 in Kindred, ND. He attended school in the Kindred area. After attending school, he farmed with his father on the family farm near Kindred. He enlisted in the United States Army on September 3, 1942 and was honorably discharged on October 15, 1945. He was a World War II Veteran and served in campaigns in North Africa, Naples and Rome. After serving in the military, he returned home and continued to farm. He married Berniece Kugler on September 21, 1946. The couple farmed in the Kindred area and had a dairy operation. In 1976 he retired from farming. He then started working at Braaten Cabinets in 1976 till 1994 when again he retired only to start his own craft business called "Ing?s Woodworking and Crafts"for 8 years. He loved working with his hands. Ingval is survived by his wife, Berniece, his children, Sandy (Jerome) Nipstad, Hickson, ND, Bradley (Patty) Braaten, Prior Lake, MN, Terry, (Lynn) Braaten, Kindred, ND, seven grandchildren, Scott (Mary Jane) Nipstad, Stacy (Chris) Bourassa, Summer (Jesse) Kath, Trevor Braaten (Fianc? Eyleen Burnside), Justin (Tricia) Braaten, Jessica Braaten (Fianc? Grant Lindemann) and Bobbi Braaten, six great-grandchildren, Emily & Ryan Bourassa, Mason Nipstad, Sienna Kath, Devon Blackwelder and Bo Braaten, brother Donald (Eileen) Braaten, Fargo, sisters Mildred Hippe, Helen (Ken) Humphrey, Delores (Paul) Jacobson, all of Wilsonville, OR and Florence Ellingson, Vancover, WA. He is preceded in death by his parents Ole and Mathilda, one infant sister and sister Glenda Swenson.
