Ione Mildred Bakko, 86, Riverview Place, Fargo, ND, formerly of Walcott, ND died Monday, October 25, 2004, at Villa Maria, Fargo, ND and was under the care of the Hospice of the Red River Valley, Fargo, ND for the last year. Ione Mildred Bakko was born on October 4, 1918 to Gilbert and Ida (Moen) Toppen near Kindred, North Dakota. Ione grew up and lived in the Kindred Area and went to school at Kindred and Lakeside, rural Kindred. Ione worked on the family farm. Ione married Bernard Bakko January 24, 1943 at the Kindred Lutheran Church, Kindred. Ione and Ben lived and farmed in the Kindred area and later in the Walcott, ND area. Ione and Ben moved into Fargo and lived there for 20 years. For the past 1 ? years they have resided at Riverview Place in Fargo. Ione loved embroidery, her garden, dancing and was a fan of the Minnesota Twins. She also enjoyed the activities of her grandchildren and was very proud of them. Ione was a member of the Walcott Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid, and a member of the Eagles Auxillary of Fargo. Ione is survived by her husband, Ben, her son Larry Bakko, Oxbow, ND, 2 daughters, Sandy (Ray) Anderson, Ross, ND, Mary (Tom) Paulsen, Rockford, Illinois, one twin brother Gordon (Georgia) Grinaker, Fargo, ND and her grandchildren, Dan, Ben, Megan Bakko, Jennifer (Vance) Vesey, Jodi, Brad Anderson, Brian (Amy) Paulsen, Kelly (Ted) Lewis and Brett (Megan) Paulsen and five great grandchildren. Ione is preceded in death by her parents Gilbert & Ida Toppen and one grandson Eric Anderson. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Arrangements by Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred.
