Jack M. Anderson, Sr., age 79, of Fargo, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. Jack M. Anderson was born April 3, 1926, in Stillwater, MN, to Oscar and Edith Anderson. He graduated from Stillwater High School and entered the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served as the photographer for his graduating class and later established Anderson Studio in Stillwater in 1946. He remained in business until 1971. He married Elizabeth Bahnub Speltz on September 17, 1971, and joined her in operating the Speltz Studio in Black River Falls, WI. They moved to Fargo in 1986, where they were members of Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church. Jack was employed by Northwest Professional Color. He was qualified as a Master Photographer, one of the youngest in the nation, in 1959, by the Professional Photographers of America, and later earned Master Photographic Craftsman status. Finally, the association recognized him with three national awards from the states of Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota - an honor seldom achieved in multiple states. He is survived by his children, Terry (Stella) Anderson of Kansas City, MO, Steve (Cathy) Anderson of Nashville, TN, Jack (Peggy) Anderson, Jr. of North Branch, MN, Mike (Pat) Speltz of Londenderry, NH, and Steve Speltz of El Portal, CA; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church, or Northern Lights for Professional Photographers, Tim Evans Helping Hands Fund, c/o Pam Carlson, 525 Tilden Street, Fairmont, MN 56031. The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church, Fargo. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5-7 p.m. in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held in the church on Monday one hour prior to the service.
