James D. Hohncke, 82 of Fargo, loving husband and father, died on Friday, October 26, 2007 at MeritCare Hospital Palliative Care, Fargo. Jim was born February 27, 1925 in Fargo, the son of Wilbur and Stella (Halsten) Hohncke. He attended and graduated from Fargo Central High School. He served with distinction in the South PacificTheater during World War II. After the war he attended and graduated from NDAC with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked in construction as an engineer until his retirement. He was a registered professional engineer and a long-time member of the Fargo Special Assessment Commission. He married Marguerite Hoffman on December 16, 1949. She passed away in 1998. They were blessed with five children. Jim was a member of St. Mark?s Lutheran Church of Fargo and a current member of Elim Lutheran Church, Fargo. Jim enjoyed life and considered himself blessed. He took great pride in his garden and sharing his many wood-working treasures. Jim was an avid reader and delighted in good conversation with friends and family. He loved sharing his baked goodies with everyone. He is survived by three daughters, Linda (Butch) Ewertz of Hunter, ND, Mary Ann (Gary) Meier of Minnetonka, MN, Joan Hohncke of Bloomington, MN; two sons, James D. (Melinda) Hohncke, Jr. of Chippewa Falls, WI, Paul (Sheri) Hohncke of Fergus Falls, MN; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Sells of Fargo and Shirley Swint of Everett, WA. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents and his brother, John. Memorial Service: Saturday, November 3 at 1:30 pm at Elim Lutheran Church, Fargo. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Final Resting Place: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo. Arrangements entrusted to Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
