Born in: Longview, WA
Resided in: Milton, FL

James “Lynn” Nelson, 75, formerly of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully at Santa Rosa Medical Center in Milton, FL on April 11, 2024.

James was born on May 27, 1948 to Robert and Louise (Erickson) Nelson in Longview, WA. The family lived there for a few years before settling in Fargo, ND. James attended Fargo Central High School and graduated in 1966. James then proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years, stationed at Fort Bliss, TX. Upon returning home, his passion for woodworking led him to start his own company, Nelson Cabinets, which he successfully owned and operated for over 20 years in Fargo. After retiring, James decided to enjoy his well-deserved rest and relaxation in the sunny state of Florida, where he continued his passion for carpentry and gardening.

Jim was a skilled carpenter, a true hippie at heart who loved Willie Nelson and spending time with his beloved yellow lab, Bosco. His love for fishing led him to buying a fishing boat in Florida, where he spent countless hours out on the water, enjoying the peace and tranquility of nature.

In his retirement, Jim’s selfless nature and love for woodworking led him to work on projects for friends and family, always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his love of nature and animals, and his unwavering dedication to his craft.
James will be remembered by his daughters Amber and Laura Nelson, of Fargo, ND; and Tonya (Paul) Amonto, of Boston, MA; his brothers Jeff (Char) Nelson and Gregory (Kari) Nelson; his sisters Shirleen Miller and Lorie (Mark) Anderson; his best furry friend Bosco; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Louise Nelson; and his brother-in-law Roger Miller.

Guestbook

  1. Our heartfelt thoughts & prayers are with you. Especially Amber; you were his shining light. Take comfort in the good memories you shared.

  2. I am so sad to hear of Jim’s passing. He became a dear friend and helped me in so many ways. He enjoyed attending Prairie Heights community church in Fargo with me for the wonderful music and skilled guitar players that played on Sundays. He helped me with my pets and encouraged me when I was down. I wanted to go visit him in Florida and never got the chance. He will be deeply missed.
