Jani Rae Hendrickson, of Fargo, died Monday, July 31, 2023.
Jani Rae Heringer was born in Fargo on August 13, 1960, to James and Dorothy (Grimstvedt) Heringer and was raised in Jamestown. After high school she attended the Lutheran Bible Institute of Seattle. After college she enjoyed traveling and camping with her family.
She resided in the Fargo area for several years and was employed at Gateway Chevrolet. She was proud and honored to be part of their team, loving everyone she worked with and often spoke of their love and generosity.
On July 10, 2021, Jani married David Hendrickson of West Fargo. They were the love of each other’s lives, and Jani was a very loving and devoted wife. One of Jani’s greatest joys was loving and making memories with her husband.
Jani was a very warm and kind person. She glorified God in nearly everything she did, loving people unconditionally, and people she just met loved her. She had a way of being attentive to other people’s needs and emotions that is rare in this world. She kept in touch with people she loved and often shared cards, notes, calls, and messages. Jani valued her family and friends as the most important in life. She had a son Gunnar and daughter, Chalsey from previous marriage, who she loved beyond words and strived to keep in touch with them always.
Jani loved to take pictures, mostly of friends and family, and shared them with all, wanting to preserve the memories that were precious to her. She loved to cook and was quick to invite guests into her home for a special meal.
Jani was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
She is survived by her husband, David, daughter, Chalsey (Brad) Neva, grandchildren Alec and Damon of Marion, Iowa; son Gunnar Messner, grandchildren Sullivan, Sylas and Rhythm of Central City South Dakota; brother, David (Chris) Heringer, son Evan, daughter Emma (Cory) Ploof and their children, Landon and Sutton, sisters, Traci (Rick) Harmon and sons, Jayme, Joshua, Justin, Jesse and Jonny, St. Joseph, Missouri, Shelli (Howard) Taylor and son, Trevor, and daughter, Carlie, White Cloud, Kansas. She is survived by many cousins who loved her dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023, with visitation starting at 1 p.m. at Lighthouse Church, Fargo.

My heart breaks for the loss of my dear friend.
Jani was a wonderful person. She was practically part of our family. I can’t imagine the pain the ones closest are going through. Losing such an amazing person feels unfair. I just saw her smiling face last weekend and I am devastated now knowing it was the last time. My heart goes out to everyone who had the luxury of getting to meet and know this truly amazing person. She will be missed and remembered dearly.
I am still in shock. She was a great woman who loved and cared for her hubby David during his rough time. May God rest her soul. Hugs go out to David, family and friends.
FLY FREE Jani thanks for sharing your beautiful soul you meant sooo much to sooo many

We are so sorry for your loss, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. 🙏 💔
My wife Jill and I went to LBI of Issaquah Washington with Jani Herringer during the 1979 through 1980 school year. She was one of our friends and we have always wondered what happened to so many of the friends that we made at LBI. I am so sorry for the family’s loss and I know how you feel because my sweet wife Jill went home to be with Lord Jesus in 2019. I remember Jani as a very sweet loving beautiful young lady. If you are a born again Christian then your loss is only temporary but I know it still hurts so very deeply. May God give you His perfect peace during this very difficult time.
Jani was an amazing friend at LBI. She was my wedding attendant, I loved her dearly. We had such great talks. We had such great evenings, finding whatever sugar we could find late night, from chocolate chip cookies, ice cream, etc. I saw you not long ago in Minneapolis. Dear girl, I will miss you, David and family, I am so sorry for your loss. We will meet again in heaven Jani and we will hug. Love you my friend. Cheryl Riggs

My thoughts and prayers to your family!
🙏🏻❤️🤗
I was lucky to work with Jani at North High school. She was a testament to God’s grace and love. She cared deeply about the students and she worked with a joyful heart. She was a blessing to all who were fortunate to know her. My sympathy to family & friends.
God places people in our lives, we are so blessed to have Jani in our lives. I am so thankful that we were allowed to get to know her and love her. Although we don’t always understand, but we do know that God’s timing is always right.
Rest In Peace my friend!
