Janice Marie Scott, 70 of Fargo, died Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Sanford Health in Fargo.

She was born in Fargo, the adopted daughter of Cyril and Leona McCoy.  She grew up in the Fargo-Moorhead area and graduated from Shanley High School in 1957.  She married Thomas E. Scott in 1961 and lived in Fargo.  Janice worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and at State Bank in Casselton.  She also attended Dakota Business College.   From 1980-1983 she worked for the Diocese of Fargo.  She graduated from Moorhead Technical Collegewith a degree in Sales and Marketing in 1992.  Janice devoted many hours volunteering, including at Holy Spririt Catholic Church, Catholic Charities of North Dakota, New Horizons, Easter Seals, Hospice of the Red River Valley, American Cancer Society, Elim Care Center and at First Choice Clinic.  She was currently a member and volunteer at Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church in Fargo.

She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents and her son, Michael Wayne Scott.

Janice is survived by her husband, Tom of Fargo; daughter, Teresa Scott of Missoula, MT; sons, David (Kristin) Scott of Lakeville, MN; Steven Scott of Fargo, Timothy (Amy) Scott of Fargo and 5 grandchildren.

  1. Laguna Woods CAI’m Jan’s cousin in law, Celia’s niece, uncle Terry Brunette’s daughter #7 of 8 kids. I recall Jan and Tom’s always happy greetings when we came to visit from CA. Mrs. Scott was always very gracious to me and my family while also taking time out of her schedule to make sure I was walking with the Lord, and challenging me to do such. I am so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Scott was like another Mom to me.
