Janine A. (Jeanie) Nelson, 72, Davenport, North Dakota, passed away Monday, November 22, 2010 at home under the care of her family with the assistance of Hospice of the Red River Valley

Janine A Meyer was born to John and Adeline Meyer on March 21, 1938 on the family farm, rural Dale, Minnesota. She attended school in Hitterdal, was active as a cheerleader, band member, and choir member before  graduating from High School there. Jeanie then worked at the Hawley Creamery as a bookkeeper for four years. Janine married Charles A. Nelson on June 25, 1960 at Eksjo Lutheran Church, rural Lake Park, MN. They made their home in Fargo where they lived until 1975 when they moved to Davenport, ND. She and her husband owned and operated the Nelson Rest Home in Fargo for 30 years.

Janine loved most spending time with her grandchildren and family. She enjoyed gardening, camping, crosswords and puzzles. Janine will be remembered for her loving and caring ways, her dedication and compassion in all she did.

She is survived by her husband, Charles, Davenport, ND, her children, Jennifer (Les) Rheault, Fargo, John (Stacey) Nelson, West Fargo, ND, Jayne Arabanos, Chanhassen, MN, Michael (Michelle Borud), Fargo, ND; 7 grandchildren, Brandon, Braden, Shannon, Nelson, Allison, Lexi, and Charlie;  brothers and sisters, Joan (Raymond) Grefsrud, Rollag, MN, John (Buddy) (Carley) Meyer, Pelican Rapids, MN, Nathan (Carol) Meyer, Ulen, MN, Janet Burns, Hawley, MN, Juanita (Sis) (Wendell) Leno, Prior Lake, MN;  She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Tommy, sister, Aileen Malakowsky, 3 nephews, Bruce Meyer, Patrick Burns, and Ronn Malakowsky.

  1. We are so sorry to hear about your loss. We enjoyed Jeanie very much through the years of attending wrestling matches and tournaments for the Kindred boys. We also remember you, Charles, and your warm family, so much sympathy goes out to you all.
