Jason Rudy Vitense, 48 of Fargo, passed away August 11, 2023 in Fargo, North Dakota.
Jason was born September 11, 1974 to Neil and Carla in Englewood, Colorado. He attended school in Oakes, ND from pre-school through his sophomore year. Jason continued his education in Huron, South Dakota where he finished his junior year later graduated with the class of 1993.
While living in Oakes, ND, Jason had a love for wrestling and attended many Pee Wee tournaments in which he won medals making him feel very proud. Jason was also introduced to radio work through his two older brothers which led him to his true passion. He had a radio voice like no other. Jason was an on air personality and news director at various stations including Oakes, ND, Aberdeen, SD, Hibbing, MN and Harrison, AR. He also owned and operated his own production studio for a time. While living in Huron, SD, Jason formed a special bond with four amazing friends including Terry, Nate, Kevin, and Seth.
Jason was a good person with a huge heart. One of Jason’s proudest moments was the birth of his daughter. He faced many struggles in his lifetime but was loved by more people than be ever knew.
Jason is survived by his daughter, Brystin Vitense of Cook, MN; parents, Neil (Naomi) Vitense of Yellville, AR, Carla (Howard) Norton, of Aberdeen, SD; brothers, Mike (Rae Ann) Vitense of Sioux Falls, SD, Kurt (Kim) Vitense of St. Peters, MO; sister, Shelly (Chuck) Lauermann of Kimball, MN; step brothers, Jay (Krista) Norton of Omaha, NE, Richard (Catherine) Tillery of Colorado; step sisters, Kim (Robert) Bitz of Aberdeen, SD and Kate (Erick) Danzer of Colorado.
Jason is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life service from 1:00-4:00 PM Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home in Aberdeen, SD. There will be a time of fellowship along with sharing our stories and memories of Jason.
The family requests that you wear casual attire.

Jason was a childhood friend of mine in Oakes. I had not been in contact with him for a long time but have fond memories of being friends in our youth. My heart goes out to his family.
