Jean M. Johnson

Jean M. Johnson, 87, of Fargo, ND passed away April, 22, 2023 in Sanford Hospice House, Fargo. Jean, the daughter of Henry and Evelyn Harland, was born April 6, 1936 in Eastedge, ND. She grew up and attended school in the Nome/Kathryn area. Jean married Wesley Johnson October 23, 1954 in Moorhead, MN and they made their home in Fargo. They were married for 43 years before Wes’ passing in 1998. She worked for Red Owl stores for more than 30 years followed by 10 years with Cass County Electric. Jean’s life adventures included traveling abroad, snowmobiling (her last trail ride was at age 84), and pitching horseshoes on a league. A longtime member of the Quilters’ Guild of ND, she loved visiting quilt shops wherever she traveled, always adding to her extensive stash of fabric. Jean was an avid reader, Western novels being her favorite but she loved a great mystery too. She also loved a good game of pinochle and spending time working in her flower gardens.

Jean is survived by her children: Carmen (Mike) Nordback, Fargo; Robin (JoAnn) Johnson, Lake Park, MN; Laurie Feid, Sarasota, FL; grandchildren Aaron and Matthew Johnson, Jimmy Feid, Tianna and Tanner Gilbertson, and great-granddaughter, Monroe Johnson. Her surviving siblings are Donna (Bud) Potratz, Harvey (Pat) Dahl, Ella Mae Satrom, Linda Collum, and Gloria Gillen. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wes, and siblings Willard Harland, Carol Anderson, William Harland, Marjorie Stewart, Henrietta Hass, Rosemary Harland, Mary Ellen Mason, Robert Martin, and Heather Moon.

A private interment and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
