Jeanette Ann Smith, 77, Fargo, ND passed away due to breast cancer Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at Meritcare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Jeanette Smith was born December 19, 1931, the daughter of John and Mary McNally. She grew up on the family farm in Sioux City, IA. She graduated from Cathedral High School then attended Briar Cliff College for one year. She was an assistant office manager for a group of orthopedic surgeons ? she truly loved her time working in the medical field; during this period of time, she also modeled at Martin?s Department Store in Sioux City. She dearly loved all animals, riding horses, and being the only one of the five children in her family able to master milking the cows. She married Joseph A. Smith on September 13, 1958. They lived in Sioux City, IA, moved to Aberdeen, SD, Sauk Centre, MN, in 1976 they settled in Barnesville, MN where they owned a business. After the death of her husband in 1980, Jeanette moved to Scottsdale, AZ for seven years before returning to Fargo, ND. Jeanette enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family, particularly her eight grandchildren. She enjoyed discussing current events with her ?coffee? friends and attending theatrical performances. She was devoted to the Catholic faith and a parishioner at St. Mary?s Cathedral. Jeanette is survived by her five children: Theresa Smith MD (Mark Danielson), Duluth, MN; Julia (Dan) Bommelman, Fargo, ND; Patrick (Tina Lantner) Smith, Marissa, IL; Michael (Susan) Smith, West Fargo, ND; Paula (Keith) Ternes, Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren: Andrea (Derrick) Olson, West Fargo, ND; Brittany Marthaler, Fargo, ND; Jim Danielson, Duluth, MN; Joey, Kayla, and Kyle Smith, Marissa, IL; Brian Ternes, Fargo, ND; and Jordan Smith, West Fargo, ND; two brothers, John (Marge) McNally and James (Mary) McNally and two sisters, Mary Ellen Wigton and Jean McNally MD (Peter Carbonara MD). She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, and her parents, John and Mary McNally. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 13, at St. Mary?s Cathedral in Fargo, ND. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. Prayer Service at Boulger Funeral Home, 123 10th St S, Fargo, ND. There will also be visitation one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary?s Cemetery in Barnesville, MN. Arrangements entrusted to Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
