Joan Lee Hagen of Fargo, ND died at her home on July 29, 2026. Joan was born December 24, 1955, to the parents of Peter and Margaret (Senger) Yager in Devils Lake, ND. She spent her childhood near Crary and graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1974.
Joan was married to Allan Eisenzimmer, with whom she had two sons, Jared and Kyle. She was married to Randall “Petey” Pederson for a time. Joan and her third husband James “Jim” Hagen were married in Jamaica on January 6, 2005. They travelled, camped, and golfed for ten years until his death in June of 2015.
Joan enjoyed camping, reading, The Beatles, her grandchildren, watching Westerns, and being by the water. She spent many hours watching her boys play hockey, soaking up the sun, and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jared; husband, Jim; parents; sisters, Geraldine Kuehn, Janice Miller, and Judith Fjellanger; brother, Thomas Yager; and dear friend and sister-in-law, Nan Yager.
She will be missed by her son, Kyle (Nicole) Eisenzimmer and their children Sophia and Felix; grandson, Jack Eisenzimmer; granddaughter, Layla Eisenzimmer; step-sons, Jeff Hagen and Mark Hagen, grandson Brennan; and brothers, Joseph Yager and Dennis Yager.

I’m so sad to read that Joan has passed. She was a treasured friend and former co-worker. She and I used to go to a quilting group together, and spent Saturday’s at her dining room table as I taught her more quilting tips and tricks. I envied her as a new quilter when Jim bought her what we both called: “The Dream Machine”. She was determined to learn, and even mastered beautiful binding before I did. She was one of the kindest, sweetest, caring people I had the honor of calling my friend. She will be so missed. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers. May we all hold her memory in our hearts forever.
When we were kids, our gang knew her as Joanie. We all hung out at the skating rink, Lake Theater, memorial building, the Arcade, the Knuckles, among other DL hangouts (Jerry Johnson’s house party). We had gobs of fun at sock hops in the multi-purpose room and epic limbo and twister parties at Dina’s. She was kind, funny, talented (art, drawings) and always had an eye open for mischief. I’m Joanie cousin, my dad and her mom were brother and sister. We spent many great times at their farm. We moved to Washington state and lost track of each other. I would see her posts on Facebook.
