John passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2004, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home at the age of 83. John Beach was born on March 16, 1921, the son of John and Bernice (Bell) Beach, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He grew up in this area and later moved to a farm near Fargo, ND, in the Osgood Community, with his family. He began working on the family farm during his schooling and graduated from West Fargo High School in 1940. John was united in marriage to Marian Loberg on October 14, 1944, in the Osgood Community. After their marriage they moved to a farm near Hillsboro, ND, where they have made their home for over 60 years. John and Marian worked together on their farm raising their family. They farmed sugar beets, small grains, raised cattle and milked dairy cattle for many years. John retired from farming in 1980, but kept very active with his many pastimes and hobbies. He was an avid collector of Native American artifacts, old tools, and hub caps; loved spending time in his garden, working on his John Deere tractors, and Diamond Willow carving; and restoring pump organs. John was also very active in his community serving on the Traill County Historical Society for over 36 years, served on the Township Board, was a 4-H leader for a number of years, and was very active in his church. John is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marian of Hillsboro; his children, Carolyn (Fred) Sharbono of Devils Lake, ND; James (Sandra) Beach of Hillsboro, ND; Laurie (Harris) Lammers of Blanchard, ND; Jackie (Daniel) Hellerud of Karlstad, MN; Teddy (Margo Hall) Beach of Hillsboro, ND; his 12 grandchildren; one step granddaughter; and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, David (Jean) Beach of Grand Forks, ND; and his sisters, Jean Jacobson of Las Vegas, NV; and Clare (Jack) Baird of LaFayette, CO; and his sister in law, Lorraine Beach of Hillsboro. John was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Bernard Beach.
