John Edgar Howes passed away on August 26, 2021. John was born in Huntington, Indiana on December 17, 1942, the son of Edgar and Mart (Warburton) Howes. He grew up on a farm west of Jamestown, ND. As a teenager, he raised sheep and pigs. He attended grade school at Washington Elementary School in Jamestown. He then attended Jamestown High School where he graduated in 1960. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge from the US Army, he worked for Northern Improvement Company along with his parents. A few years later he was employed by the Sweetheart Bread Company in Dickinson, ND. He later moved to Fargo, ND where he was employed by Hoovestol Trucking Company, hauling US Mail between Fargo and Minneapolis, MN, with whom he was employed at the time of his retirement. John is survived by 4 sisters, Mary K Lonsky of Bloomington, MN, Norma Howes of Jamestown, ND, Betty (Gust) Kern of Glendive, MT, and Joanne Kleese of West Fargo, ND, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Janet, and one brother Robert (Bob), and one nephew Mark Lonsky. There will be a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jamestown, ND on September 25, 2021 at 2:00PM with a short get together at Immanuel Lutheran Church following the service.
