John Blue passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, at St. Catherine’s South (Villa Maria) in Fargo, North Dakota, at the age of 74.

John Louis Blue was born on October 15, 1949, the son of Jerome G. and Margaret (Polack) Blue, in White Earth, Minnesota. He grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and graduated from Red River High School in 1968. John continued his education in East Grand Forks, Minnesota at the AVTI (Area Vocational Technical Institute. John proudly served in the United States Army from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1971. He returned to North Dakota and worked for the Block Layers Union.

John was united in marriage to Pamela T. Albertson on September 26, 1981, in Powers Lake, North Dakota. They made their home in Thompson, North Dakota.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pamela; his sisters, Barbara Mayer and Rebecca Berthiaume; his brothers, Jerry Blue, Dick Blue, and Dave Blue.

He is survived by his two brothers, Francis “Frank” (Martha) Blue of Hudson, Wisconsin and Peter (Cindy) Blue of Nevis, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews and many other very dear relatives.

The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and caregivers at the Arthur Good Samaritan Center and St. Catherine’s South for the love and care shown to John over the past few years.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 11 AM Friday, June 7, 2024, at the Fargo National Cemetery near Harwood, North Dakota.

    • John attended Our Lady of Peace church in Mayville for many years. I enjoyed visiting with him after Mass. He was always smiling. May he rest in peace in the arms of Jesus!

    I was so sorry to hear of John’ passing but he and I talked about the type of cancer he had and it was a good decision on his part. I offer my sympathy and I will have a mass said for him in Alaska. He was a good honest man. May he rest in peace.
